John F. KennedyOur 35th president, John F Kennedy, was the youngest president to die. He was born on May 29, 1917 and died on November 22, 1963. He married his wife, Jacqueline Bouvier, on September 12, 1953. He took vigorous action in the cause of equal rights, calling for a new civil rights legislation. The vision he had in place for America extended the quality of national culture and the central role of the arts in a society.
Berlin WallAt the end of WW2, the Allies split up Germany into four zones: United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union (soon to be Russia yet again). Past Midnight on the night of August 12-13, 1961 trucks full of soldiers construction workers came through east Berlin. The wall stretched well over a hundred miles. It not only ran through the center of Berlin, but also wrapped around the city, cutting of Berlin from west Germany. It went through four major transformations during the 28 years it was up.
Operation MongooseAfter the failure to overthrow Castro in Cuba, the Kennedy administration planned Operation Mongoose. The goal of this was to overthrow Communist regime within Cuba and institute a new government. There is little officially known about this topic. But what is definitely known is that the communist regime was an active Sino-Soviet spearhead in our Hemisphere and that Communist control inside Cuba were severe. On January 18, 1962 the chief of operations was assigned thirty-two tasks to Departments and Agencies of the U.S. government to provide a realistic assessment and preparation of the U.S. capabilities.
